There is a small parking lot when you turn off of Ashton Avenue and then you immediately get to the tot lot that is covered by bark chips. The tot lot includes two slides, climbing equipment, two regular swings and two infant swings. There is a soccer field and a tennis court as well. Throughout the park there are picnic tables, trash receptacles, and a grilling area. There is a large, open space that is good for ‘free play’ also.
If you are located in the City of Manassas or are near the Hayden Community, check this park out!
Rutherford Park located in Fairfax has so much to offer and is fun for all ages. In addition to the large piece of playground equipment, there are also plenty of athletic fields including tennis and basketball courts. There is a nice picnic and grilling area and nice walking trail, which is part of the Long Branch Stream Valley Trail.
When you first enter the park there is a port-a-potty. The playground, itself, is a large piece of equipment, including three slides, a climbing wall and monkey bars. Rutherford Park has a tire swing, including two infant swings and two regular swings, as well as a few riding animals. Woodchips are underneath all the equipment. There are plenty of athletic fields, including basketball and tennis courts and there is a nice picnic and grilling area.
If you are located in Fairfax County or are just looking for a fun, free day out, check out this park!
Lots of trees around, but the playground itself is not shaded. The play equipment is up a small hill and to the left from the parking lot. You can follow the small walking trail to the playground or the playing fields. There is a nice bench right at the playground to watch the kiddos play. Although this park doesn’t have swings, the playground is equipped with slides, climbing equipment, tunnels and monkey bars. There is a walking trail around the park that leads you to tennis courts, baseball and soccer fields.
Although my kids are still a little young for the playing fields, we had fun kicking a ball in the tennis courts, walking the path and of course playing on the playground. If you are in Lorton, check it out!
Whether you are on the look out for a playground, walking trail, basketball courts or tennis courts, this park has all the features you are looking for. Located right across the street from JEB Stuart High School, at this park you will find a nice sized playground with a few slides, climbing equipment, “monkey” bars and on each side of the equipment you will find the fun, “old fashion” game to play telephone. My boys loved hearing each other scream at each other. A set of two infant swings are located right next to the playground as well. Since we visited right around the time school let out, we were able to see a group of kids play basketball and practice tennis. There was a nice little section of picnic tables with a grill as well. Parking is located on the street (by the school). There was a nice little trail leading you up to the play equipment, making it far enough away from the street and the school. This park is surrounded by trees and has plenty of opportunities for shade.
If you are located in Falls Church and near this park, I recommend stopping by to see all the amenities this park has to offer.
**Please note, if you do stop by during the school year and around the time of dismissal, there may be students hanging out while they wait for their rides or after school activities. **
