Hammill Park is located in Woodbridge, VA and managed by Prince William County Authority. This park is accessible off of Carter Lane. There is a walking trail off of Hylton Ave, across a little bridge to the tot lot, swings, picnic pavilion with grills, as well as one of Prince William Counties Community Pools.
Near the playground area are four swings (two infant and two normal), a covered picnic area with a grill and a community pool. We didn’t take any pictures of the picnic area as there were two groups there enjoying lunch. The playground was an older play area, but our boys still had fun. The playground equipment had three slides, tic-tac-toe, a tunnel to crawl through and some climbing equipment.
**Please Note: The pool is closed for the season**
This pool has fun water slides for the kids for all the kids to enjoy, as well as plenty of shaded options. The pool is open middle of June- middle of August.
This is a nice park for Prince William County residents, especially during the summer months when you are able to utilize the community pool. If you live in the Hylton neighborhood, check this park out.
Last week we spent some time visiting parks in Woodbridge, VA. Howison Homestead Park is managed by Prince William County Park Authority. This park was a lot of fun and my boys especially loved the train themed playground equipment.
Address: 14716 Minnieville Road, Woodbridge, VA
Howison Homestead Park has three soccer fields, two picnic pavilions, concession stands with restrooms, a train themed playground, as well as another playground, a digger and a see-saw. The train themed playground is surrounded by a sand like floor and is built like a train, has a sliding board, steering wheel instead and a tunnel to crawl through. In the area of the train playground there is also a small digger that you can maneuver on your own to pick up and discard sand. My boys really enjoyed making “sand” piles, while the other crashed them. The other playground has mulch on the ground. This play area has a few climbing areas, a large slide and a regular slide. This area also has the see-saw. There are two benches and a nice little sitting area that overlooks both play grounds.
Just past the playground is one of the park pavilions with two picnic tables. The other pavilion is just behind the concession stands and bathrooms. There are also three different soccer fields that have different leagues throughout the year.
Harry W. Dawson park is located right off of Hillendale Drive. Although there is not a parking lot, there is plenty of street parking and a paved walking trail that leads you to the playground, swings, cover picnic table and other walking trails. The playground equipment has a few climbing ladders, a slide and a tunnel. Also at the playground area is a swiveling seat, a rocking horse, an infant swing as well as a regular swing and two benches.
There is a covered area with two picnic tables and trash receptacles. To the left of the picnic area are where you can take the walking trails that lead you to the local neighborhoods.
If you are in the neighborhood, this is a nice park to stop, visit and enjoy the shade!
