Before the rain hit this weekend we checked out a few parks in the Reston area. Our first stop was Stuart Road Park off of Lake Newport Drive. The Fairfax County park sits within a single-family home neighborhood with plenty of walking trails to and from the park.
The park offers a tennis court, basketball court, and fitness stations located along the walking/hiking trails. The playground is unique as it has a small fenced-in area with a small piece of equipment, toddler swings, and a couple horses to ride on. Outside the fence you’ll find a regular swing set, large piece of equipment and a large bug to climb on. The park has plenty of shade with a picnic pavilion and benches to rest on. There are no restrooms at this park. The equipment with the exception of the large piece of equipment is all older and made of metal. The grounds need a lot of maintenance especially in the fenced-in area. There were plenty of roots and holes that the kids tripped over. The walking trails were great especially in the fitness area.
This park was cute and you can’t beat the location if you live in the area. Hopefully Fairfax County will give it a little love and attention to make it a great park.
