I’m a big fan of City of Fairfax parks as most have great older trees and hiking trails. Daniels Run Park is a great hiking park that is mostly flatter wide trails with crushed gravel and several pedestrian bridges. There are many access points to the park not just the address below. Inside the park are directional signs as to what residential street you’re close to so you don’t get turned around inside the park. The park has a picnic shelter and small tot lot area.
Address: Estel Road, Fairfax, VA 22031 (Runs straight into the park)
The small tot lot area has a tall slide and swings. To reach the tot lot area easily you can come into the park at the Heritage Lane access point. We didn’t reach the picnic pavilion on our hike because the boys were having a great time on the trails. There are both wide crushed gravel trails and hiking trails through out the park. We really loved this park and even though it was pretty cool weather the mosquitoes were out and biting. Just make sure you throw on some bug spray since you are in the middle of the woods. Strollers and wagons would do okay on the trails. I saw several moms and dads out there with both strollers and wagons. If the kids are doing well riding bikes this would be a fun trail system to take the kids out on.
We love this park and all City of Fairfax parks! They always have a natural feel and my boys love hiking through the woods and crossing the bridges. If you live in Fairfax or just want to find a nice easy walking/hiking park, check out Daniels Run Park in the City of Fairfax.
