The other weekend we were in the City of Manassas Park so we decided to stop by a park for the boys to check out. Costello Park has 2 softball fields, 5 baseball fields, a miracle field, dog park, picnic pavilions, and small tot lot. A miracle field is a field where special needs individuals can play baseball. The Manassas Park Community Center is also available to the residents of Manassas Park and located in Costello Park.
The playground area of the park is located across from the Manassas Park Community Center along side a large picnic pavilion. The play area has some shade and restrooms are located inside the Community Center. There is one small piece of play equipment and both types of swings. The picnic pavilion is available for rental, click here for more information.
This park is nice area to take the kiddos if you live in Manassas Park. The Manassas Park Community Center has an indoor pool, meeting areas, classes, indoor basketball courts, and fitness center. Also in an emergency situation the Community Center acts as an emergency facility for Manassas Park residents with generator back up in case of power outages.
A few months ago we headed out to Woodbridge, VA to check out Veterans Memorial Regional Park! This park has something for everyone. The park sits next to the Occoquan Bay National Wildlife Refuge in Prince William County and has lots of natural hiking trails. The Veteran Memorial Park Community Center is part of the park as well.
In addition to the cute little playground, the park has a pool, rental picnic pavilions, horseshoe pits, skatepark, baseball, softball, soccer, football fields, tennis, volleyball and basketball courts. The recreation center also includes indoor basketball court. The playground was in good condition with a small piece of equipment, toddler and regular swings. Restrooms are available inside the community center right near the park and porta potties are located throughout the park.
The Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail runs through the park and a trail entrance is just off the main road that runs through the park. The trail head is marked by the green square on a post. It was a nice hike but I would not recommend taking a wagon or a stroller on the path.
This was a very nice park with many things to do. If you live in Prince William County or if you’re looking for a new place to hike check out Veteran Memorial Regional Park in Woodbridge, VA!
