A couple weeks ago we headed out to the City of Manassas to visit a few parks. Our first stop was Stonewall Park. The park offers a large playground and small playground. There is also a cover picnic pavilion and grills that can be reserved. The Stonewall Park Pool is open on Memorial Day Weekend until Labor Day Weekend. Fees for the pool can be found HERE. Lighted Tennis Courts, Basketball court, Football/Soccer Field and 0.9 fitness trail is also part of this park. Best part is the indoor restrooms that are available from May-October.
The parks larger playground is located near the entrance by the picnic pavilion. It has two pieces of equipment with lots of different elements. Both types of swings and a climbing wall. Plenty of shade over this park and when we were there the leaves hadn’t come in yet.
The smaller playground by the pool and athletic field has a small piece of equipment, ride on equipment, both types of swings and an interesting climbing structure. The kids had a fun time at this park. It was clean and the equipment was in great shape. If you live in the City of Manassas and are looking for a nice park this one is for you.
The park is very large including two baseball fields, a tennis court, walking trails, pond and playground. The paved walking trail, Winter’s Branch Trail is 0.9 miles and when you’re finished you can head over to the pond behind the Boys & Girls Club Building. Indoor Restrooms are located next door to the Boys & Girls Club and Baseball fields. The large playground is closed to the public from 8:30-3:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday. The playground is attached to the Jennie Dean Elementary School and for safety reasons is not open to the public during school hours. The playground has four different pieces of large and small play equipment and two different sets of swings with toddler and regular swings. Plus a fun rock wall for the kids to climb. The equipment doesn’t have any shade over it but there are several benches sitting under some trees.
This park has lots of green space for the kids to run around and burn off all that energy. Next time we are in the City of Manassas we’re going to have to swing by and check out the pond and the trails.
Last week we checked out Rosemount-Lewis Regional Park in Manassas, VA. This Prince William County park is located off of 11000 Crestwood Drive. The county website has the address as 8150 Ashton Avenue but this is not correct.
The park entrance is located in a cul de sac on Crestwood Drive. You have to park in the cul de sac and walk down the gravel drive to get to the walking trails, tennis court, basketball court, play equipment and picnic pavilion. As you can see from the red arrow I have added to the above photo I have pointed out that only pedestrians and emergency vehicles are allowed on the gravel road. Apparently I just glanced over that sign and with the gate open I just drove on in. Not until after we were done checking out the park that I noticed the small sign. If I learned anything from this mistake is that it’s a pretty good walk down the gravel road to get to everything.
The park has two pieces equipment in pretty good shape. The tennis and basketball court were in good shape as well. The equipment didn’t have any shade over it but the picnic pavilion is right next it. Sadly there are no restrooms for this park. But there are plenty of paved walking trails for you to stroll on in and around the park.
This was a cute park with plenty of grass and trees for the kids to run around. If you live in the Crestwood Village or Paradise Townhomes in Manassas you can easily walk to the park down one of the paved paths or gravel road to check it out.
A few days ago we checked out Signal Hill Park in the City of Manassas Park located in Prince William County. This 110-acre park includes a water park, playground, multipurpose field, basketball courts, softball field, picnic pavilion, picnic area and grills, walking paths and a fishing pond. The Signal Bay Water Park includes a zero entry pool and lazy river.
The playground doesn’t have any shade but on a nice day the equipment is decent and there is a swing set. There is two shaded picnic tables near the playground with restrooms. If the kids get tired of the playground you can walk along the trails to the pond to check out the ducks and geese. If you’re into geo-caching this park has plenty for you to track down.
This park has a lot to offer for sport enthusiasts and the kids!
Last week we tested out a new park in Prince William County, George Hellwig Memorial Park. Located in Manassas it is located near the Independent Hill community off of Bristow Road. The area offers a few newer communities with homes on large lots and many older homes on acreage. In the same section of the park is the Park Authority Headquarters and the small Independent Hill Library.
The park has a lot to offer with soccer fields, baseball fields, walking trails, shaded playground, restrooms, tennis and basketball courts. Several shaded pavilions are available for rental or just to sit down have a nice picnic. The playground equipment is new and offers plenty for the children to play on. A small musical section always the kids to the play the drums and other musical instruments. The tot lot does offer shade in the form of large umbrellas and a few trees.
We have gone to this park a lot since my in laws live near by and the kids always have a great time!
