The small playground area doesn’t have much shade but it does have a nice piece of play equipment and swings. There is a small gazebo if you need to get out of the shade. No restrooms at this park but it’s a perfect walk from your home park to get out of the backyard.

I just happened upon this park when I had business in the City of Winchester. It was the perfect park for the boys to stretch their legs at then get back into the car to head back over the hill. If you live in the City of Winchester this is cute small park to check out.

Jim Barnett Park in Winchester, VA!

I have been spending a lot of time in Winchester, VA working with real estate clients and come across some great parks. Today I took the kids to Jim Barnett Park in the City of Winchester. This park can be accessed from several roads, Senseny Road, Pleasant Vally Road and Hollingsworth Road.

This is an awesome park with a ton of activities for everyone. Of course we hit up the playground first and it was  great, Christianson Familyland. Two huge play areas were available. One play area was for the littler crowd with the compressed rubber flooring. Toddler and Special Needs swings were available as well. The other play area had a mulch flooring and regular swings. Both sets were in great condition but had no shade over the equipment. There were plenty of older trees giving off shade for the kids to cool off under and benches to sit down. Indoor restrooms are located in the same area and were very clean when we were there.

After the playground we walked over to the pond to check out the new ducklings and goslings. The man made pond was nice and several people were fishing for trout when we were there. Lots of benches lined the pathway around the pond so we decided to sit down and have a snack. Fair warning the City of Winchester does not want you feeding the ducks and geese and from a fellow resident they do give out tickets.

In addition to the playground and pond, the park features a disc golf course, baseball fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, many picnic shelters, paved fitness trails, indoor & outdoor pool, amphitheater, dog park, BMX track, RC track, POW-MIA Memorial and War Memorial Museum. The paved fitness trails weaved in and out of the trees and grass areas. Their were a lot of people out running and walking on these trails when we were there.

Overall this park was very well maintained and had a very natural feel to it! I suggest if you live in the area or just plan on passing through, stop by and check out this great park!
