There is a small parking lot when you turn off of Ashton Avenue and then you immediately get to the tot lot that is covered by bark chips. The tot lot includes two slides, climbing equipment, two regular swings and two infant swings. There is a soccer field and a tennis court as well. Throughout the park there are picnic tables, trash receptacles, and a grilling area. There is a large, open space that is good for ‘free play’ also.
If you are located in the City of Manassas or are near the Hayden Community, check this park out!
This was a nice, quiet park to go and watch my 4 and 2 year old play and be content with one another. Since it is a very small park including only one tiny tot lot, it was a nice park to sit down just and watch the boys play and use their imagination. Sometimes when we venture to larger parks, it’s hard for them to play together because of their difference interests, so this was a nice change of pace. There is also a pretty large size yard for the kiddos to run around at. We played freeze tag for a while and they enjoyed a nice little break at their picnic table to eat a snack. This park is geared towards the younger crowd, I would say 4 and under.
If you are in Manassas and looking to visit a smaller park to tire the kiddos out, check this park out!
Last week we visited Winterset Park located in the City of Manassas. This was a great park for all ages. There were a few different sets of playground equipment, as well as two sets of basketball courts.
The playground has three different equipment structures, which include two different slides and lots of different climbing equipment. My toddler loved the climbing wall and wanted to do it over and over again. There is a unique piece that I haven’t yet seen at a playground; the half circle with two tires underneath is a new modern-like see-saw. Behind that was a fun little zipline. Once we got the hang of it we had lots of fun on that too! There are four regular swings and two infant swings as well. The ground of the park is mulch and there are picnic benches around the outside of the parameter for the parents to sit and watch their kiddos play.
Looking to have a picnic? This park is for you, as there are plenty of picnic tables with a grill centrally located. Don’t forget your basketball or sidewalk chalk as their are two different basketball courts to play at. If you are in the City of Manassas, make sure you stop to visit this park!
Oakenshaw Park in Manassas, VA is located in the Oakenshaw neighborhood off of Signal Hill Road in the City of Manassas. The park we visited offers a basketball court and playground area off a paved walking trail. It’s actually a two part park with a t-ball field and another basketball court located in another part of the neighborhood.
The playground are has two large pieces of play equipment with some neat slides and a couple different climbing areas. Both types of swings are available. Sadly no restrooms at the park but public restrooms are nearby in the shopping centers.
I was pleasantly surprised when we pulled up to this neighborhood park and found several nice pieces of play equipment. The kids didn’t want to leave because of the different features on the equipment that you don’t see at every park. If you live in the City of Manassas around the Oakenshaw Neighborhood, check out this nice park!
A couple weeks ago we headed out to the City of Manassas to visit a few parks. Our first stop was Stonewall Park. The park offers a large playground and small playground. There is also a cover picnic pavilion and grills that can be reserved. The Stonewall Park Pool is open on Memorial Day Weekend until Labor Day Weekend. Fees for the pool can be found HERE. Lighted Tennis Courts, Basketball court, Football/Soccer Field and 0.9 fitness trail is also part of this park. Best part is the indoor restrooms that are available from May-October.
The parks larger playground is located near the entrance by the picnic pavilion. It has two pieces of equipment with lots of different elements. Both types of swings and a climbing wall. Plenty of shade over this park and when we were there the leaves hadn’t come in yet.
The smaller playground by the pool and athletic field has a small piece of equipment, ride on equipment, both types of swings and an interesting climbing structure. The kids had a fun time at this park. It was clean and the equipment was in great shape. If you live in the City of Manassas and are looking for a nice park this one is for you.
City of Manassas sometimes get a bad rap but when it comes to their parks they go all out. The other day we were out in Manassas and visited Byrd Park. Byrd Park has large and small play areas with swings for all ages. There are also 2 softball fields and full court basketball courts. The neatest part of the park is the fenced in roller hockey area. One side of the court has many different colored basketball hoops for all different ages and heights to play. Restrooms are indoor and are open seasonally, May-October.
The playground area offers two different sizes of equipment for the younger and older crowds all in great shape. Both types of swings are available but in different parts of the park. You can see each playground clearly but if you had a younger child and an older child who wanted to play on the other equipment it would be good distance from each other. In the older kids area there is a great sea serpent for them to climb on and other motor developmental type climbing equipment.
The park also has a small picnic pavilion with grills that you can reserve by calling the City of Manassas. The Roller Hockey Area is fenced in and also has one section dedicated to what they call bankshot basketball. My boys just happen to bring a soccer ball so they shot around and played with the fun size basketball hoops.
The boys had a great time at this park and asked to go back to play basketball! If you live in the City of Manassas or you just want to find a nice park in the Manassas area, check out Byrd Park!
A few weeks ago we checked out Baldwin Park in the City of Manassas. The park sits behind the Manassas Museum. The Manassas Museum has permanent and temporary exhibits chronicling the history of the Northern Virginia Piedmont. The park and Museum are located right in the heart of Old Town Manassas.
The playground at the park is in complete shade and in great condition. There is one piece of large playground equipment and one set of swings. There are many picnic tables near the play equipment. Restrooms are located in the Museum not far from the playground. The park area can be rented for gatherings and social events. For more information click here.
My kids had a great time at the park and they even enjoyed the museum. After the museum and park we headed over to the Manassas Train Station to see the Caboose. We were very lucky to catch a Norfolk Southern Engine coming through the station. Totally made the boys day!
This is a very cute park. The location near the train station is a bonus and as well as the farmers market that is nearby on Thursdays in the Harris Pavilion.

The park is very large including two baseball fields, a tennis court, walking trails, pond and playground. The paved walking trail, Winter’s Branch Trail is 0.9 miles and when you’re finished you can head over to the pond behind the Boys & Girls Club Building. Indoor Restrooms are located next door to the Boys & Girls Club and Baseball fields. The large playground is closed to the public from 8:30-3:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday. The playground is attached to the Jennie Dean Elementary School and for safety reasons is not open to the public during school hours. The playground has four different pieces of large and small play equipment and two different sets of swings with toddler and regular swings. Plus a fun rock wall for the kids to climb. The equipment doesn’t have any shade over it but there are several benches sitting under some trees.
This park has lots of green space for the kids to run around and burn off all that energy. Next time we are in the City of Manassas we’re going to have to swing by and check out the pond and the trails.
