Lincoln Park in Falls Church, VA!

Lincoln Park in Falls Church, VA!

Another great neighborhood park in the City of Falls Church, VA is Lincoln Park. The park is fenced in and sits on the corner of Lincoln Avenue and Great Falls Street. The park was completely remodeled after an accident left the play equipment in bad shape and now the new equipment has a very cute theme.

Address: Lincoln Avenue and Great Falls Street

The park has a basketball court, two pieces of play equipment, both types of swings, and a sandbox. The NEW play equipment has some shade over the equipment and picnic tables. The new play equipment  was replaced after someone ran off the road and hit the play equipment. The new equipment has a tree house theme and the boys really enjoyed playing inside the big tree. The new swings include one toddler swing, one special needs swing and two regular swings. The swings and sandbox don’t have much shade but the sandbox does have recycled sand toys available to use. Sadly there are no restrooms at the park. A few of the picnic tables have been replaced with really cute toadstool chairs and tables.

The park is very nice and it’s hard to tell from the pictures but the sponsor of the park has added a rain garden with flowers, trees and shrubs. If you live in the City of Falls Church or just looking for a nice shady park I recommend Lincoln Park!

Greenway Downs Park in Falls Church, VA

Review submitted by NoVA Outdoor’s newest addition, Ashley Wells. Ashley is a mom to two wonderful boys who have plenty of energy and married to a husband who enjoys being outdoors!

Greenway Downs Park is in the Greenway Downs neighborhood, located in Falls Church, VA.   This park is in a very shaded and secluded area with a walking path, picnic tables, swings and a tot lot.  Although there isn’t much parking,  it is located in a cul-de-sac.

Address: 2858 Woodlawn Ave., Falls Church, VA 22042

The playground is a great size for a neighborhood park.  In addition to the swings, it has a couple of slides,  a  riding horse, a tic tac toe game as well as a little fire engine underneath.

There are a few picnic tables located at this park, as well as a smaller table for the kids to eat at.  There are several locations to a walking path from the park;  there’s a bridge entrance, stairs on the opposite side or past the play area there is a path entrance as well.

Cavalier Trail Park in Falls Church, VA!

Cavalier Trail Park in Falls Church, VA!

A few months ago we were in the City of Falls Church checking out parks and came across Cavalier Trail Park. The parking lot for the park is located off of Maple Avenue before S. Washington Street. The play area is located down the trail and across the walking bridge. If you want to park near the playground you need to park on Westmoreland Road off of S. Washington Street. The park will be on the right side of the road.

Address: 556 S. Maple Ave, Falls Church, VA

The park includes tennis courts, lit basketball court, paved walking/biking trails, and playground. The playground includes one piece of play equipment and swings. The park has plenty of shade and a picnic table to grab a snack. Sadly there are no restrooms at the park. The kids had a blast standing on the bridge throwing sticks into the creek.

The Cavalier Trail Park is a cute little park in the City of Falls Church. If you live in the area you should check it out.

Donald S. Frady Park in Falls Church, VA!

Donald S. Frady Park in Falls Church, VA!

On one of our park hopping excursions a few weeks ago we checked out Donald S. Frady Park in the City of Falls Church, VA. The park has a lot of appeal if you just want to stroll through a nice neighborhood park. We parked on the street near the church to enter. A long path takes you into a nice grassy area with lots of older trees and a fountain in between great older homes. The park also has a playground, game table, gazebo and mini amphitheater.

Address: East Broad and Fairfax Street

The playground is behind a large slope and you will need to follow a path to get to the equipment. There is one piece of equipment with a ramp and swings. Sadly the park doesn’t have a restroom but the play area has lots of shade.

This was a very cute park in the City of Falls Church. If you live in the area you should check out this great neighborhood park!

Cherry Hill Park in Falls Church, VA!

Cherry Hill Park in Falls Church, VA!

The City of Falls Church has some really nice parks and Cherry Hill Park is no exception. When we visited the park it was just a week after the horrible Derecho came through and wreaked havoc on the Northern Virginia area. The park has big beautiful older trees and a few of them were lost in the storm. The Falls Church City Community Center  is also located in the same parking lot as the park.

Address: 312 Park Avenue, Falls Church, VA

The Cherry Hill Park gets it’s name from the old farm land it sits on. In the 70’s as a bicentennial project the City of Falls Church decided to restore the Cherry Hill Farm with the help of the Friends of Cherry Hill Foundation. The Cherry Hill Farmhouse and Barn were restored and to this day the farmhouse is used for educational purposes and furnishings are purchased and maintained.

The park also includes a playground, large grassy area, lighted tennis and basketball courts, volleyball court, horseshoe pits, picnic pavilion and plenty of picnic tables and benches. The playground includes large and small pieces of equipment, both types of swings and small playhouse. The park has plenty of shade and restrooms are located in the Farmhouse and Community Center. To be close to the playground, street parking along Park Ave is available but for more parking just pull in by the Community Center and walk across the grassy area.

We love this park and plan to go back in the future. If you live in the City of Falls Church I suggest you check out this great park!

Roberts Park in Falls Church, VA!

Roberts Park in Falls Church, VA!

Today we checked out a few parks in the City of Falls Church in Fairfax County. Out of all the parks today my boys enjoyed Roberts Park hidden amongst a single-family home neigborhood the most. Other than the City of Falls Church website it would be hard to see this park driving around the area.

Address: Lynn Place and Randolph Street

The park entrance is at the end of Randolph Street. If you plan on driving over to the park you’ll have to park on Lynn Place. A small gate is at the end of Randolph Street and this is how you have to enter the park.

The park has a nice picnic shelter with grills and tetherball court. It has a large grassy area and full court basketball court. The best part of the park is the fenced-in play area with a lot of different play equipment and swings.

The kids had a great time at the park. There was plenty of shade over and around the equipment. Sadly there are no restrooms which would make this park even better. If you live in the City of Falls Church or you’re just looking for a nice park check out Roberts Park!

Big Chimneys Park in Falls Church, VA!

Big Chimneys Park in Falls Church, VA!

Big Chimneys Park in Falls Church, VA is located behind the Bowl America Falls Church bowling alley. This cute little park is tucked in between the bowling center and some townhomes in the City of Falls Church on West Annandale Road.

Address: 212 West Annandale Road, Falls Church, VA

The park is not very large but it has large older trees which create lots of shade even without their leaves. The equipment is in great shape with two playsets and a swing set. There are no restrooms but if you were really stuck you could walk around to the bowling center to use the restrooms.

This is a cute little Fairfax County park and is in walking distance of townhomes and single family homes in the City of Falls Church. Parking is available on the street and if you live nearby you should check it out!

Madison Park in Falls Church, VA!

Madison Park in Falls Church, VA!

Last week we checked out Madison Park in Falls Church, VA. This cute little neighborhood park sits amongst nice single family homes in the City of Falls Church.

Address: 332 Lawton Street, Falls Church, VA

This is cute neighborhood park has one large piece of play equipment and a set of swings. There are plenty of benches, water fountain and a small pavilion with picnic benches. There is lots of shade over the equipment and plenty of shade for the kids to escape the sun. The park also has a small grassy area for the kids to run around on. There is plenty of parking either in the lot or on the street. Sadly there are no restrooms for all those potty trainers out there.

A very lovely neighborhood park and if you live in the area you should check it out!
